Squirrels From Hell - Rock - 8-9pm
Squirrels From Hell have been playing and recording in New York City for over thirty years. Starting out as a cover band, they quickly bought into the DIY movement of CBGB, Trude Heller’s, and Max’s Kansas City, and have performed only original material since that time. Since their 1980’s birth their music has become more sophisticated and their lyrics more, well, literate. Over the last ten years the influence of Larry Brown, their drummer and vocal arranger, has given a professional polish to songs that still explore the darker side of the human condition. The trio has been expanded to include sax, which adds yet another level of sophistication to a band once called “the lowest of the low-rent bands” by the Village Voice, but now celebrated by at least one critic as “the most powerful, majestic, and intellectually challenging band of our time.
